tinyprintskidclose

It isn't often that we come across something so practical from an entrepreneurial mother. The expression "Necessity is the Mother of Invention" certainly rings true in this case.

Introducing "My tiny prints" — custom, handmade, manipulation-resistant, photo board book for your little one to remember family and friends who he/she may not get to see often.

"My tiny prints" is based in Geneva and is run by one expat mom, Monica Freudt, who found that making one for her own toddler would help him recognize his aunts, uncles and cousins who live abroad and turn them into friendly, familiar faces. He just loves looking through it again and again.

"My tiny prints" books are the perfect size for your baby's little hands, measuring 10cm x 10cm. They are made of hard board and their content is completely customizable. Books start at Fr. 22.- and hold 12 photos; more photos may be added for a few extra francs.

federesque coffee table 500

A new coffee-table book has just been published that will delight Federer fans the world over!

Called “Federesque”, the new large-format, 104 page, hardback book provides a unique photographic study of Roger Federer’s 20-year career on the ATP circuit, and pays testament to the never-ending record-breaking achievements that have now led to him being called the greatest tennis player of all time!

Not just another Federer book!

With approximately 30 books already devoted to Roger Federer’s tennis, what gave Geneva publisher, Sandor Szabados, the idea to produce another?  He told knowitall.ch,

“In November 2017, I was looking for an elegant book on Roger Federer to give as a Christmas present. Whilst I found many books about Roger’s tennis, I couldn’t find a single high-end photographic coffee-table book on the man himself. So, being a photographer, publisher and Federer fan in my own right, I decided to create the book that I was seeking myself!”

“Federesque” has been published by BTL- Beyond the Lens. Printed with an elegant landscape design, it includes artistic photos from the 20 Grand Slams he has won over his illustrious 20-year career.

Zero Waste Food and Drink

With Christmas just behind us, the topic of waste seems particularly high on the agenda…what could we have done to reduce the packaging on all those presents, and did we really need to buy all that food and drink?

If you would like to support the zero waste initiative, and learn how to adopt some simple habits in your everyday life that will preserve natural resources and help prevent climate change, as well as improve your health and save you money, the association Zero Waste Switzerland has some great ideas to get you started.

Set up in 2015 with the aim of “enabling citizens, institutions, and economic parties to choose a manner of consumption and production without waste”, the association runs a series of interesting workshops to help inform and educate individuals on a variety of topics ranging from food and drink through to beauty and hygiene.

SOFYPHOTO05 new

Special discount for knowitall.ch readers on all bookings made before 31 March 2018

Local entrepreneur, Sophie Robert-Nicoud, will fulfil her lifelong dream to become a full time professional photographer with the launch of her new photography business in 2018.

Called Sofy.ch, her new business will offer a full range of lifestyle photographic services, ranging from maternity and newborn photos through to corporate events and weddings.  The emphasis will be on capturing special moments as they happen, using natural light both indoors and outdoors, rather than staged studio shots.

Explaining her speciality to knowitall.ch, Sophie told us, “When my two daughters were born, I had the perfect excuse to fulfil my lifelong passion for photography and create daily memories of them both.  However, I soon found that were not keen on posing, and I rapidly developed a special knack for capturing special moments “on the move” in a lifestyle kind of way.”

She continued, “These natural photos were so successful that, over the last few years, I have been asked to use the same techniques when capturing the joy in other people’s lives, be they young children playing in the garden, or moms-to-be preparing for parenthood.  I leave children to play, live and laugh and interact with them constantly. I give advice to moms or brides-to-be to help them feel at ease and relaxed and make sure my clients look as natural as they can possibly be.  No studio for me, only natural light either outdoors or at the client’s home”
