Zero Waste Food and Drink

With Christmas just behind us, the topic of waste seems particularly high on the agenda…what could we have done to reduce the packaging on all those presents, and did we really need to buy all that food and drink?

If you would like to support the zero waste initiative, and learn how to adopt some simple habits in your everyday life that will preserve natural resources and help prevent climate change, as well as improve your health and save you money, the association Zero Waste Switzerland has some great ideas to get you started.

Set up in 2015 with the aim of “enabling citizens, institutions, and economic parties to choose a manner of consumption and production without waste”, the association runs a series of interesting workshops to help inform and educate individuals on a variety of topics ranging from food and drink through to beauty and hygiene.

SOFYPHOTO05 new

Special discount for knowitall.ch readers on all bookings made before 31 March 2018

Local entrepreneur, Sophie Robert-Nicoud, will fulfil her lifelong dream to become a full time professional photographer with the launch of her new photography business in 2018.

Called Sofy.ch, her new business will offer a full range of lifestyle photographic services, ranging from maternity and newborn photos through to corporate events and weddings.  The emphasis will be on capturing special moments as they happen, using natural light both indoors and outdoors, rather than staged studio shots.

Explaining her speciality to knowitall.ch, Sophie told us, “When my two daughters were born, I had the perfect excuse to fulfil my lifelong passion for photography and create daily memories of them both.  However, I soon found that were not keen on posing, and I rapidly developed a special knack for capturing special moments “on the move” in a lifestyle kind of way.”

She continued, “These natural photos were so successful that, over the last few years, I have been asked to use the same techniques when capturing the joy in other people’s lives, be they young children playing in the garden, or moms-to-be preparing for parenthood.  I leave children to play, live and laugh and interact with them constantly. I give advice to moms or brides-to-be to help them feel at ease and relaxed and make sure my clients look as natural as they can possibly be.  No studio for me, only natural light either outdoors or at the client’s home”

clynk sufixe watch stand

Know-it-all Marketplace will showcase a luxurious new watch stand, called The One Night Stand, at its pop-up shop in Geneva from 27 November through to 23 December.

The One Night Stand

Designed and produced by Sufixe, the sleek-looking stand will make an ideal Christmas gift for anyone who prizes their precious timepiece, and is the first in what is expected to be a series of new products to be created by the recently launched R&D branch of c:lynk, a long-established design agency that works for multinational clients in and around Geneva.

According to c:lynk founder,  Basil Thuillard, The One Night Stand can serve either as a premium stand to keep at home for precious timepiece owners, or as a window display item not just for watches, but other items too such as jewelry.   The design can be fully customizable through choice of materials, finishings (paint, coatings, raw effect, etc), engravings, colors and more.

Katt Cullen and Lisa Cirieco-Ohlman

Despite all the last minute preparation going on for Know-it-all Marketplace, the new month-long pop-up shop opening in Geneva next Monday, Lisa Cirieco-Ohlman still managed to find time to head over to WRS this morning to talk to Katt Cullen on the Mid Morning Mix.

Click here and listen to what she had to say about her new temporary shop in the Planète Charmilles shopping center and the rigorous selection process that all the creative vendors had to go through to get their products included!

Whether you're looking for inexpensive but unique, handmade craft items to give to your female friends for Christmas, or more luxurious designer gifts to give to your husband, there is something for everybody in the shop, with prices ranging from just Fr. 2.- through to Fr. 300.-.

With every purchase made, you can be sure you will be supporting a local business...Lisa explained on the show that all 54 creators selected to display their wares in the shop come from the Lake Geneva region or nearby.
