A neuromuscular dentist in Geneva has been helping clients overcome a wide range of painful symptoms, not normally considered treatable by dentists.
Neuromuscular dentist, Dr. Yves Delessert, has been using techniques such as muscle relaxation (TENS), electromyography (EMG) and jaw tracking to relieve discomfort in clients suffering with a variety of debilitating conditions such as headaches, tinnitus, temporomanibular disorders (TMJ/TMD), and myofacial pain.
Currently the only DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) in Switzerland practising neuromuscular dentistry (NMD), Dr. Delessert explained to knowitall.ch, “NMD is a term applied to techniques that expand upon the traditional approach to dentistry, and considers the entire system that controls the positioning and function of the jaw. The neuromuscular dentist seeks to establish a jaw position based on the harmonious relationship of three main factors affecting occlusion - the teeth, muscles and jaw joints. The resulting jaw position is called the neuromuscular bite.”

At the beginning of this year, we received a number of emails from readers keen to recommend the services of local counselors and therapists, who have helped them come through challenging periods in their lives.
Two therapists, whose details arrived too late to be included in the latest edition of Know-it-all passport, are Eric Vandenhoeck and Robin Saunders, so we thought it might be helpful to introduce them to you now. Another therapist, Tania Goudas, sent her details just in time to be included, but since her practice is quite new we thought it would be good to include some details about her services too!

A new concept has just been launched to help reduce the stress and tension experienced by employees working long hours at their desk, thereby reducing absenteeism in companies.
Called “yog-A-ttitude”, the new concept is the brainchild of Florence Boehlen, a yoga teacher who has recently set up her own company, yoga l'essenCiel, in Rolle, Vaud.
Explaining the new service to knowitall.ch, Florence told us, “This concept has been created for companies whose employees work long desk hours in demanding professions and who often have poor sitting postures combined with high levels of stress, which can lead to various physical and psychological disorders. Yog-A-ttitude aims at improving the employees' overall wellness by relieving physical and mental stress, thereby preventing various ailments and negative consequences on the work force's health. The ultimate goal is to prevent and reduce absenteeism in companies, while maintaining well-being.”

Since we wrote our recent article about English-speaking dentists in Geneva, we have had a number of requests via our website, to receive our list of recommended doctors and Healthcare providers practicing in Geneva, Vaud and neighbouring France.
As our readers know, we only provide information on businesses and services that have been recommended to us, or that we have experienced ourselves, so this list does not cover all medical practitioners in the region. For this you should consult a phone directory. However, if you want to find someone with a proven track record, indeed someone recommended to us by one of our readers, then you should ask for a copy of our list.
Going to the doctors and dentists can be quite a scary experience for many people, so it is not surprising that, even armed with a list of recommended practitioners, you may be tempted to put off making an appointment until the last possible moment. However, this need not be the case. Many of the professionals on our list have years of experience working with nervous patients and, indeed, one dentist on our list positively encourages them to visit her!

A new book has just been published outlining everything you need to know about looking after babies between the ages of 0 and 3 years.
Written from the perspective of a young father, Cyril Jost, “L’essentiel sur les bébés” presents a simple and precise overview of key topics such as breastfeeding, nutrition, sleep, nappy training, and development. With the support of more than 80 original infographs and amusing illustrations by another local Dad, Pierre Wazem, the book attempts to offer “the facts” on babies in a truly non-partisan way, which neither lectures nor pre-judges parents for the choices they make.
Asked why he decided to write this book now, Cyril told knowitall.ch “As a former journalist, now working for a big publishing firm in Lausanne, I have a penchant for “facts” and wrote my first book on economics in 2007. With the arrival of my 2 daughters, now aged 2 and 4, I looked high and low in the bookstores for an informative book on babies, without all the “tips", “suggestions" and sometimes biased recommendations you get when you become a parent. However, despite the huge number of books on this subject, nothing satisfied my need for precise, factual information.”
