Fun French Language Programme

With an increased focus on personal and professional development, it comes as no surprise to learn that Le Café Vivant is now encouraging clients to use their performing skills in a way that will help them learn a new language.

Play, Sing, Dance, Cook Français is a weekly Fun French Language Programme (FFLP) starting in September, designed to stimulate the senses and help participants develop new language skills through the process of acting, singing, dancing and cooking.

Le Café Vivant Founder and Director, Concetta Avolio, told knowitall.ch. “It’s a very simple concept. Take dancing, for example, which focuses on movement. The principle is to put into action all that is said. Participants learn all the words and phrases relating to directions, movements, body and breath, interacting with each other. The action, the movement, will stimulate your mind/brain to better memorize and integrate language.”

She continued, “Each week, students will meet for three hours to immerse themselves into the French language, by stimulating all their senses, and integrating the language on the spot ! This workshop is a welcome meeting place for people to make friends and create bonds. It is particularly useful for expats living in the region, helping them to learn the essential tools of the local spoken language, and facilitating a smooth social and cultural integration.”

The French language classes will run every Thursday in Gingins from 10h to 13h.

Sustainable development

Whilst Le Café Vivant has been running performing arts courses in the community for several years, not everyone knows about their programmes for social responsibility and sustainable development. Last year the organization was awarded the Prix du Developpement Durable de la Ville de Nyon 2016, and just recently it was independently certified by the “Prix de l’Ethique Suisse 2017”.

Once the new center opens in July, you will start to see a much wider array of "socially conscious" events being hosted, including conferences and round-table discussions.  Concetta concluded, "Our academy will provide a platform where people can meet, think and chat together with the guidance of a conference speaker on subjects that concern us all. For example, a financial director will come and talk to us about the pros and cons of globalisation. These programs will be mainly in French but we might have some in English too. We will certainly host some IMPROVISATION workshops in English."

With this in mind, look out for their new personal development program called “Do you know your IKIGAI?” IKIGAI is a japanese philosophical concept which means “your life mission” or “your life purpose”!
