When it comes to finding ways of improving your physical and mental well-being, the tools at your disposal are not always that pleasant.  Long and arduous workouts at the gym may help to produce much-needed endorphins, but they’re not everyone’s cup of tea!

At Sunflower-Power, the path to improved health and wellbeing is a much more enjoyable one!  Their mission is to promote health and wellness in a serious yet joyful manner, providing clients with wellbeing tools that they can employ long after classes have finished.

Originally from Finland and arriving in Switzerland in 2000, founder Kira Cantatore told knowitall.ch, “Sunflower-Power is all about promoting physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health and wellbeing by providing feel-good yoga classes, laughter yoga, energy therapies, coaching on assertiveness and shiatsu massage to clients of all ages.”

She added, “My passion has always been to uplift and encourage people to improve their own lives. I always wanted to work with children so, after many years of corporate life during which I also obtained a BSc in Psychology and Social Sciences, it suddenly dawned on me that I could follow a profession that combines both my desire to uplift, encourage and help children, with my life-long habit of yoga practice.  I got trained as a yoga teacher for children and families and started offering Family Yoga classes, based on play and fun-filled easy exercises. I also started studying Reiki so I'm now a Reiki Master as well as a practitioner of another efficient energy therapy called Bars™ by Access Consciousness.”

Her initial training completed, Kira then came across the opportunity to become a Laughter Yoga Leader, trained by the International University of Laughter Yoga. She now regularly leads laughter yoga classes in yoga studios, festivals, and open days throughout the region, and loves the difference it makes in a person's day and mood!

In addition to Laughter Yoga, Kira teaches adults her favorite style of yoga, called Yin Yoga.  Yin Yoga classes work the joints, ligaments, and connective tissue and are recommended for those in sedentary jobs.  Having learnt all about meridians, the energy paths/life lines traveling through the body according to Chinese medicine, Kira also gives sessions of efficient stress-busting, relaxing Shiatsu Chair Massages for both private and corporate clients.

On the spiritual side of things, she is a certified Angel Tarot Card reader and gives readings by appointment as well as by correspondence. On the psychological side, she is also a certified coach specialized in assertiveness and providing both private and corporate sessions.

Clearly, there’s not much that Kira can’t do when it comes to helping clients improve their health and wellbeing! But what makes her services special compared to all the other businesses offering similar services in the region?  Kira told us,

“My services and qualifications are all very much linked to each other. For example, my studies in Psychology/Corporate Psychology and Social Sciences make me the ideal all-round business partner to hire as an office recreational service provider. For team-building exercises, laughter yoga and coaching on assertiveness are the perfect solution. But if there's a need for a quick lunch-time relaxation in a group, both laughter yoga and shiatsu chair massage might be just what the doctor ordered to get the body going and raise the team spirits. For a regular service, both laughter yoga and yin yoga classes at lunch time are a sure hit as there will normally not be a need for a shower afterwards and one can quickly get back to continue the day. All my services are available in English, French and Finnish.”

Asked who her services are targeted at, Kira told us, “With my family yoga class, as well as with my laughter yoga and yin yoga classes, everyone is welcome and anyone can come and practice at any class. The family yoga class is designed for the whole family, all ages welcome. Also no previous experience in yoga is necessary to attend any of the classes. I'm also running a Heavyoga and a Rage Yoga class that I would be very keen to take to schools and special events - these classes are based on the 5 Tibetan Rites yoga sequence, yin yoga and a few power exercises in the beginning of the class: all boosted by a special metal/rock/soft rock in the background. Whilst most of my classes are held in the canton of Geneva, I often travel to Vaud for special events.”
