Information evening to be held at the EPFL on 24 May

A new bilingual school, offering both clubs and daycare facilities for children aged from 3 to 6 will open this August in the canton of Vaud.

Situated in Saint-Suplice, near Lausanne, L’écoline has been created by two young mothers, Marion Julia, and Aurélie Andriamialison, to provide what they believe is a greater choice in the provision of education and daycare facilities for young children in the region.

Marion told knowitall.ch, “Short opening hours, restrictive age ranges, boredom in the class, and inability to learn a second language from a young age, are just a few of the issues being raised by parents in this region of Switzerland. I was “fortunate” enough to lose my job at a time when we had to make decisions over our own children’s education, as this gave me the opportunity to look at alternative solutions for them.  Discussing the problem with Aurélie, we very soon came to the conclusion that it would be easier to create our own school, which would address all those issues about which we were concerned, and more!”

If you’re interested in developing the creative skills of your children but are not quite sure where their talents lie, then you may like to book a place on one of the new taster workshops that ALLMINDS will be hosting at Webster University on Saturday, 10 December.

With subjects ranging from life drawing, graphics, and photography through to media studies and fashion marketing, the new workshops will provide youngsters aged between 14 and 19 years of age the opportunity to check out “first hand” the range of facilities availability, as well as the quality of the programmes and coaching on offer. The Fashion Marketing course will be open to all ages.

Do you feel that the internet and computer technology is progressing so quickly that you are finding it difficult to keep up with the latest trends? Or do you simply want to understand better what your kids are getting up to every evening, locked away in their bedrooms with their computers?

If so, you should consider enrolling on a series of computer workshops now being offered in Nyon, Switzerland and Divonne, France by Cyrille Defer and Véronique Garguet-Duport.

Held at the Business Center in Nyon and above the post office in Divonne, these 90 minute sessions cover everything from how to install programs, send mail, and share pictures through to understanding social media and using iTunes.   The workshops mostly use applications that are freely available on the internet so there is no excuse for not implementing what you have learnt in the classroom sessions.

The school has direct access to the forest in the Jura for its explorations.

Formed as an Association at the beginning of 2011, with the aim of offering bilingual (French/English) science workshops to gifted children aged between 5 and 12, on Wednesday afternoons, the school is now be able to offer activities to more children, including homework assistance, English and German language classes, and individual coaching sessions. A new “regroupment” class is also being offered to gifted children on Saturdays.
