From the Jura to the Alps in the Lac Léman area you can visit one of the “désalpe” festivals where you can watch the parade of cows descending from mountain pastures. There is always plenty to do, see, and eat! However, there are many that have cancelled this year but we have found a few that are still on.

13h: Arrival of the herd in the village
There are traditions that endure: the Désalpe, which closes the season on the mountain pasture, is an opportunity to gather and honor the herdsmen. The procession that leaves from Les Guedères covers a dozen kilometers before crossing the village to arrive at Grand-Pré. COVID certificate required from 16 years old to access the food court - no test on site. Musical entertainment, bell ringers, alphorn, sale of regional products, food/canteen (alpine macaroni, sausages/hot dogs, etc.). Click here for more information.
