Do you need a photographic challenge?

Would you like to see your photograph published in the 2nd edition of Education Guide Switzerland due out end-of-May this year?

We would like one winning photo per canton. Each photo will be used as a full-page canton chapter separator. See below for rules and prizes. We also have a few extra categories like “Academic Extras”, “Just Across the Border”, and “Other” which you can explore in the first edition of the book. We would consider entries for those chapters as well.

Some of the winners and runners up during the Monday visit to the Imprimerie Nationale Rochat Baumann in Geneva. Lisa is the one in the middle with the light blue shirt and Jacques Rochat on the back row with the glasses.

peterandmarkA new commercial radio station was launched in the region this week, targeting the English-speaking community living in Geneva, Lausanne and neighboring France.

Called Radio Frontier, the station will broadcast initially on-line, in English, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  During its first 9 month launch period the station will be available via its website, www.radiofrontier.ch, and via mobile applications. From Spring 2012 it will be transmitted on the new commercial DAB+ transmission network, which will have an audience footprint of over 2 million people across Suisse Romande and neighbouring France.  Keep an eye out on knowitall.ch for more details nearer the time.

Founded by media entrepreneurs Peter Sibley, (previous Founder of World Television plc) and Mark Butcher (previous Programme Controller and Breakfast Presenter at World Radio Geneva), the station will be transmitted from new purpose-built broadcast studios in Geneva.

KIAP book swapTrade in the last edition and get a new one for just Fr. 25.-!

Don’t forget to bring along a copy of your Know-it-all passport to Leman Expat Fair, which is taking place on Sunday, 31 October from 11h-17h, at Beaulieu in Lausanne.

Lisa Cirieco-Ohlman, editor of the book, is repeating the special offer she made at Expat Expo earlier in the month, and is asking customers to bring in their 2009/2010 edition.  All you have to do is find your old green copy at home and bring it to Lisa on the stand (table 21) who will trade it in for the new edition for just Fr. 25.-. Since the regular price is Fr. 38.- in stores, this is a great incentive to upgrade.

A team of 14 people updated the 7th edition, which includes over 700 pages and features literally hundreds of new entries.  In response to customer demand, two new sections covering NIGHT LIFE and CHOCOLATE have also been added.
