If you think the skiing season is coming to an end, then think again.  In the latest entry in her popular series of "Skiing with Kids" blogs for Ciao Bambino, Amie O’Shaughnessy gives several reasons why you should visit Davos-Klosters before the season is out.

In her blog you will discover all that Davos - the highest city in Europe - has to offer in terms of urban, sophisticated pleasures, giving visitors more than just access to skiing.

When it comes to skiing, families are warned that Davos-Klosters is comprised of six different ski areas, with each mountain area having it’s own distinct personality and ski offering. However, not all these mountains are interconnected, so if you have kids taking ski lessons in one area of the resort, and you want to explore another area, you need to allow plenty of time to travel between the two.

Crans-Montana is the focus of the latest article in Amie O’Shaughnessy's series of "Skiing with Kids" blogs for Ciao Bambino, the popular website, inspiring families to explore the world.

According to Amie, the terrain for families at Crans-Montana is close to perfection. They’ve identified specific areas for different age groups and abilities including a ski kindergarten for pre-school kids and a snowpark for teens.

There’s also a tremendous beginner area on the golf course called Snow Island with massive room to spread out. Activities include snow tubing, button lifts, and a magic carpet.

verbier

Amie O’Shaughnessy of Ciao Bambino has written another great article about skiing with kids in Switzerland - this time focussing on Verbier.

Although it’s not particularly regarded as a kid-friendly resort, many families choose to ski and spend their holidays in Verbier to experience the tremendous on and off-piste ski terrain.

With a huge network of 410 km of runs and 89 lifts (covered by a single lift ticket), the resort is popular with Brits so you are likely to hear more English than French on the slopes, a feature which can be slightly less intimidating for English-speaking kids.

Don’t miss out on a wonderful opportunity for your kids to have endless free fun in the snow this weekend!  On 22 January, hundreds of ski resorts around the world will take part in World Snow Day, a new event launched by the International Ski Federation (FIS) as part of its “Bring Children to the Snow” campaign introduced in 2007.

According to FIS President, Gian Franco Kasper, World Snow Day will be a day where "children can come together with their families, encouraged to enjoy and explore the snow, whilst learning about the environment, the health benefits of snow activities and safety on and off the snow."  It is hoped that World Snow Day will deliver an experience that children will cherish for a life time and would like to re-live each year.

Numerous ski resorts throughout Switzerland are taking part in the event, many offering ski equipment for free, as well as lift passes and other related activities such as group ski and snowboarding lessons.
