Often, as parents, we are looking to find that magical balance between fun and education for our kids.  In the Summer time this can be especially true when we want our kids to have a great time, making the most of the weather (assuming the sunshine arrives eventually), enjoying lazy days free of the pressure of the school run and the tight week day schedules.  On the other hand we don’t want our kids to lose the habit of learning and to keep their curiosity alive.
Teachers at TutorsPlus, the Geneva-based organization providing tutors throughout Switzerland, don’t feel that these two goals are mutually exclusive.  When they were setting up their Summer Camp this year, they gave their teachers the challenge to create workshops that will give kids the chance to have a brilliant time, make new friends, have fun and be really creative whilst learning at the same time.

If you’ve been tasked with organizing a special event for children, be it a birthday party for your own child or a larger event such as a wedding where children will be present, then you should take a look at what Geneva-based, party organizer, My Sparkly Party, has to offer.

Set up in June 2010 by local mumpreneurs, Séverine and Alexandre, My Sparkly Party offers a host of party entertainment services for children aged from 3 to 13 years old.  With activities ranging from face painting and balloon modeling, through to puppet shows and magic tricks, there is something to keep every child entertained at their parties!

Séverine told knowitall.ch, “Our aim is to make parties as fun and exciting as they can be for children, but as relaxing and stress-free as possible for parents!   With children of our own, we know only too well how important these special events can be – but like many parents in Geneva we have struggled in the past to find decent, affordable entertainment for our kids.  We believe My Sparkly Party fills an important gap in this market for young children.”

HappyKid.ch, an up and coming online resource providing information on what to do and where to go with your kids in the region, is offering knowitall.ch clients a special 20% discount on new membership applications, throughout the month of February.

The discount is being offered to mark the occasion of the website’s 1st birthday, since it is now 12 months since founder, Isabella Siddiqi, launched the website to help families in the region plan activities for their children.

Isabella told us, “As a working mom with three children of my own to manage, I have encountered many joyful, but often stressful situations!  The parenting job for those who wish to be active participants in their children’s development and well-being demands a lot of energy and time. My objectives with this website are to help parents reduce the stress factor as much as possible by gaining time through sharing experiences and information.”

The highly colorful, attractive-looking website, illustrated by Maud Riemann de Peyer, is divided into 7 main sections, which have been carefully researched to ensure only the most relevant information is presented to parents.

Are you keen for your children to improve their English, but struggling to find a class that will motivate them?  Would you like your  children to be initiated to music or to learn more about it, in a way that also helps them to develop their English language skills, regardless of whether they are a beginner or mother tongue speaker?
If so, the new program of classes issued by MusicEnAnglais in Geneva may be just the thing you’re looking for! Targeted at babies, toddlers and young children up to 6 years old, these classes use a combination of musical activities and educational games to help children not only improve their English, but their musical aptitudes too!
A highly qualified and experienced teacher of both Music and English, MusicEnAnglais founder, Gloria Floreen, told knowitall.ch, “Although the methods I use differ according to the  various age-groups I teach, the basic goals are the same : to help  children gain the desire, the confidence and the skills necessary to express themselves both musically and orally in a group situation, through a variety of sensory techniques which they regard as fun and effortless play, but which are in fact very educational!”
