The 20th March has been established as the annual United Nations International Day of Happiness. All 193 UN member states adopted a resolution for happiness to be given a greater priority because world ‘progress’ should be about increasing happiness and wellbeing rather than just growing the economy. A ‘World Happiness Report’ is published every 20th March which ranks countries on their happiness levels – Switzerland was 5th in 2018, with Finland top.

This year the International Day of Happiness theme is ‘Happier Together’ looking at what we have in common rather than what divides us. The 20th March World Happiness Report will focus on ‘Happiness and Community’.

The International Day of Happiness campaign is coordinated by Action for Happiness which ‘helps people to take action for a happier and more caring world’. They promote ‘Ten Keys to happier living’.

• In a modern world where, despite all our technology and social media, many people are experiencing acute loneliness how can we improve our sense of community?

Come along, alone or with friends, and join the discussion. At ConsciousCafe we enjoy conversation about life in a friendly way in small groups whilst having drinks and snacks. It’s a great way to meet new people and expand our horizons. Conversation is usually in English but if a group is francophone then they chat in French - all are welcome.

We meet from 18.30H to 20H with arrival from 18.15H. You buy your own drinks and we ask for a 5chf contribution to the wider costs of ConsciousCafe.org

Due to renovations at our usual meeting place we are trying a new venue in the heart of Geneva - Café de la Place, 5 Place de Montbrillant, 1201 Genève – behind Cornavin station and on several public transport routes such as the 14 and 18 tramlines and the 5 and 9 bus routes. The café is convenient for those who travel in by train.
