FUNDRAISER - FROM DARKNESS TO HOPE - FOOD FOR THOUGHT AFGHANISTAN

Saturday, 20 June 2026

15h-17h

Maison 114
Rue de Carouge 114
1205 Genève

An evening of discussion and solidarity around Afghan food, organized by FFTA. Through a documentary about Afghan women's rights defenders residing on FFTA safe shelters and a collection of five life stories, discover the courage and perseverance of Afghan women.

Through the screening of a short documentary, Life Between Borders, learn about the human rights defenders currently residing in FFTA safe shelters in Pakistan.

The screening will be followed by a speech from Maryam Yunus Ebner, president of the Green Party of Geneva and member of Food for Thought Afghanistan, who will share her own journey—having arrived in Switzerland at the age of eight—as well as her commitment to Afghan women.

The event will also include the presentation of a collection of five life stories titled From Darkness to Hope, recounting the journeys of women whose courage and determination continue to inspire.

There will also be an opportunity to take part in a silent auction to acquire handmade traditional Afghan dresses, as well as to purchase the book presented during the evening.

Afterwards, enjoy a moment of exchange and discussion over Afghan snacks such as bolani, samosas, and many other specialties.

Through the projects it supports, Food for Thought Afghanistan works for education, the amplification of Afghan stories, and support for women and young people facing exile and inequality.

All funds raised will contribute to supporting families in exile as well as financing educational projects, including schools in Afghanistan.
