SWISS CAMERA MUSEUM: INFRARED
Friday 25 June 2021

pezo von ellrichshausen site presse 2

11 February through 29 August 2021

The infrared image is one of the visual signatures of our time. It is disturbing, strange, hyper-technological. It identifies cases of fever in a pandemic or checks whether a building is well insulated. It is a surveillance tool as much as a diagnostic one.

The architect Philippe Rahm uses a thermal camera in his practice, concerned with sustainable development. He also uses the infrared technique to take portraits or urban scenes. The utilitarian image is diverted to an artistic purpose, especially empathic.

Philippe Rahm, from Lausanne, trained at the EPFL and holds a doctorate in architecture. He lives and works in Paris. He is internationally recognized for a climatic approach to his art, between physiology and meteorology. He teaches in France and the United States.

As with most museums at the moment, it is recommended that you pre-purchase your tickets online to avoid being turned away.
