grouphike

A new organization catering to people who want to make the most of our beautiful countryside, including the Jura and Alps, has just been launched in the Lake Geneva region.

Set up by local entrepreneur, Yvette Evers, Fraiche Air invites the public to embark on small group adventures with her, by exploring local hiking trails, and discovering a range of outdoor activities such as snowshoeing and canoeing.

To make the most of what Fraiche Air has to offer, clients are advised to take advantage of an annual membership package, which provides exclusive benefits to subscribers. Depending on the level of involvement, two packages are offered, providing access to a range of different activities, information and discounts: click here to see the full range of benefits on offer.

A sustainability consultant specializing in tourism, Yvette told knowitall.ch that the idea for setting up Fraiche Air came to her when she moved to Switzerland from the Netherlands in 2009, and realized that there was very little information about local hiking in English. After setting up her own monthly hiking group to try out new routes in the region, she decided to make the group official this September: with over 150 members, it was time to create Fraiche Air and offer an expanded range of products and services to meet the growing demands of her customers!

Fraiche Air will offer group day hikes during the week and at the weekend, exploring trails within 1.5 hours drive of Geneva. Power walks will be offered on weekday mornings for those who are really keen to keep fit and there will a range of special events organized, including family days, orienteering, rafting, and moonlight snowshoeing: click here to see upcoming activities this Autumn. Customised private events are also offered.

The new website, www.fraicheair.com, provides inspiration with reports and photos of outings. One of the most valuable services is that member’s have access to free monthly “trail tips” including itineraries and maps, and advice on the best gear and where to buy it.

Asked why people should choose Fraiche Air compared to some of the other organizations in the region offering similar services, Yvette told us, “Fraiche Air fills a gap in the market for expats, who are looking for information about local outdoor tourism in English.  Our activity leaders encourage people to get active and have fun in their own “backyard”, and our outings provide a wonderful opportunity for members to meet like-minded sporty friends.”

Fraiche Air’s responsible philosophy encourages members to be conscious of the environment, by recommending, for example, that people car pool when organizing transport to a particular activity.  The organization supports small rural communities by using local guides, purchasing farm products for its events, and visiting village cafés. A donation of 1% of profits is made to a local environmental protection charity.

Join the fun on the next hike and find out more!
