If you're a keen walker but don't always have the confidence to head off into the mountains on your own, then you may be interested in trying out one of the free guided walks provided by The Association Genevoise des Amis du Salève (AGAS).  Evey Sunday at 10am, AGAS invites hikers to meet at the terminus of bus No 8 at Veyrier-Douane (departure at 10H05), where an excursion guide will be waiting for them, in all weather conditions!   No prior registration is necessary. Depending on the route chosen, walkers can expect a 5 to 8 hours hike. All hikers are advised to wear hiking boots (crampons in winter), a hat and suncream in summer, and a raincoat or umbrella for potentially bad weather.  You should also bring your passport, money, picnic and something to drink as well.  Good health is essential!

There is an excellent website produced by AGAS covering lots of walks in the Saleve region which can be found at www.rando-saleve.net.  David Viry is one of  the Tour Guides and he will be happy to answer your questions. You may contact him directly at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

For those looking for a shorter walk, then David's colleague, Pierre Maurice also offers walks around the Geneva area through the organisation, Maison de Quartier des Acacias.  Keep an eye out on our Events Calendar for his next walk!  He may be contacted directly on telephone: +41 (0)22 3012055 or +41 (0)79 7847341.
