A MILLION COLOURED BRICKS IN PALEXPO

Geneva reveals this autumn at Palexpo the imaginary worlds of Nathan Sawaya, an american artist renowned for his masterful creations in LEGO© bricks. The sculptor has assembled more than a million coloured bricks and presents hundreds of his works. One of the most popular toys in the world crashes through the pop culture and invents « The Art of the Brick »: an exhibition to discover from the 4th of October 2018 to the 6th of January 2019 in Palexpo. Tickets are on sale now through the Ticketcorner network.

Nathan Sawaya's LEGO© brick sculpture has toured the world where the artist presents his poetic installations which pay tribute to the collections of the great museums. He explores every possibility of the little bricks beyond the limits imposed by a mere toy box. With only coloured bricks he develops imaginary worlds and breaks free from more conventional forms.

Entitled « The Art of the Brick » the exhibition of Nathan Sawaya pays tribute to Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and Andy Warhol. With humour, the artist re-interprets and twists classical works such as Mona Lisa, Vermeer’s Girl With a Pearl Earring or Venus de Milo. Elsewhere in the exhibition, the visitor will come face to face with staggering sculptures such as a T-Rex skeleton assembled with more than 80'000 bricks. Other works are totally original creations straight out of the sculptor’s imagination. He plays with pop art’s codes and invites the public to reflect about playing, art and the necessity to live one’s dreams.

With its creativity, its elegance and scale, this exhibition will impress all those who have ever played with LEGO© bricks in their life. In total one million coloured bricks will form this autumn in Palexpo the most phenomenal installation in the world.

Nathan Sawaya will be present at the press conference for the exhibition « the Art of Bricks » on the 3 October 2018.
