BSCC BUSINESS LUNCHEON IN GENEVA WITH SERGE DAL BUSCO
Thursday 30 November 2017

BSCC BUSINESS LUNCHEON IN GENEVA WITH SERGE DAL BUSCO

Membre du Conseil d'Etat, Minister of Finance of the Republic & Canton of Geneva
“Tax Project 17: The Great Tax Reform is on Track!”

We are delighted to welcome Mr. Dal Busco to address us on one of the most important issues facing the Canton and Switzerland: tax reform.

After the rejection of the RIE III project by Swiss public vote, on 12 February 2017, the Federal Council very quickly worked on a new reform project. This project, entitled PF17, was put into consultation early in the Autumn. Mr Dal Busco argues that in its content, PF17 is close to the concept developed in Geneva for the cantonal implementation of the reform and that, being more balanced than RIE III, PF17 has every chance of gaining the support of Parliament and the people. He reaffirms that Switzerland is respecting the deadline for international tax reform, that the country will be in line with international standards and will benefit from a significant increase in competitiveness for its economy.

Since 2013, Serge Dal Busco has been the State Councilor in charge of the Finance Department of the Republic & Canton of Geneva.
A member of the Christian Democratic Party, he also served as a member of the Geneva Parliament from 2009 to 2013, where he pledged, in particular, a tax system that encourages municipalities to build houses.

He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and a Ph.D. in Technical Science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. Serge Dal Busco practiced his engineering profession while being a lecturer at EPFL, before becoming a partner in a large consulting office in civil engineering and the environment.
