OAK HILL: MISBEHAVIOUR? DISOBEDIENCE? REBELLION? DEFIANCE?
Thursday 17 October 2019

OAK HILL SPEAKER SERIES 2019/20 PRESENTS:

Misbehaviour? Disobedience? Rebellion? Defiance?
What does our children's behaviour mean and how can we invite them to cooperate and collaborate instead?
by
Jinger Hayes MEd, CCADP, Family Counsellor & Certified Parenting Coach
Thursday 17th October 2019,
18.45 to 20.00 (doors open 18.15)
Oak Hill, Nyon

This seminar will explore behaviour patterns that children often use (seeking attention, revenge, power or displaying assumed inadequacy/avoidance), and the lengths they will go to (positively or negatively) to have their needs met (i.e. to feel connected, powerful, significant and courageous).

The notion of 'obedience' and why it is a character trait that doesn't prepare our children to be adults will also be explored. Suggestions and strategies will be shared that will help parents and teachers invite children to cooperate instead of capitulate - so that we can all help children develop the social, cooperative and communicative skills they need in the future.

This seminar is suitable for anyone working with children of all ages - primary and secondary teachers and assistants, as well as parents/carers.

Jinger Hayes is a graduate of the University of Houston with a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counselling. She is licensed and nationally certified in the USA and has completed her further certification as a Classical Adlerian Depth Psychotherapist through the Alfred Adler Institute of Northwestern Washington. Jinger works with the Family Counselling Services in Geneva and Vaud and is a passionate advocate for parent education, viewing it as a powerful preventive tool in the field of mental health.
