20002013

Come to Leman Expat Fair in Lausanne on November 4th, 2012 with a copy of the 2000 edition and receive a copy of the latest edition in exchange!

Would you like to get a copy of the brand-new 8th edition of Know-it-all passport® for FREE?

If so, then look through your cupboards and bookshelves to see if you still have a copy of the very first edition of the publication, which is yellow and black and has 2000 in the title. The first 10 people to bring along their copy to the Know-it-all passport stand at this year’s Léman Fair (Table 80 at the Centre Beaulieu Congress Center in Lausanne) will receive a copy of Know-it-all passport 2013/2014 in exchange!

Why the offer? Well Lisa Cirieco-Ohlman, the editor, only printed 1,000 copies when the first edition came out in 1999. The book was so successful she sold all but two copies of the book, which she kept for herself.  She now has three children and really wants to give each of them a full set of the books when they are older, and is now searching desperately for two more copies.

To encourage as many of you as possible to look for the book, she is willing to give away 10 new copies of the latest edition in exchange, representing a Fr. 380.- value!  So don’t forget, please take a look around your home and see if you can unearth a copy – it really will be worth your trouble! No other edition will be considered for exchange so make sure it is the one with 2000 on the cover, as shown in the illustration above.

To claim a new 8th edition, just be one of the first 10 people to drop by Know-it-all passport's stand with the 1st edition. Parking is conveniently located under the center and buses stop there too!

THE biggest source of information for the international community between Geneva and Montreux. A day to stroll, learn and enjoy. What else you’ll find at Leman Expat Fair 2012: a variety of over 150 English-speaking exhibitors; presentations including how to job search in Switzerland; a free English book exchange; a special pavilion exhibiting fantastic tourist destinations; and an Art Section exhibiting photographs, paintings  and sculptures, and more. Free entrance. If you register online you can participate in a drawing with prizes worth hundreds of francs! Click here for more info.

If you aren't in the first 10, don't despair! You can still buy a copy of the 8th edition for the expo price of Fr. 35.- instead of Fr. 38.- on the day. Or buy after the event at one of the distribution outlets at this link.

Since it was first published in 1999, Know-it-all passport has become THE English-language reference book for anything you want to know in Geneva, Vaud and neighboring France. With over 750 pages, it includes recommendations on everything from shopping, housing and education to birthday party venues, places to eat, night life, and even chocolate! The chapter on OUTINGS AND TRIPS (56 pages) is a book within a book.

Also on our stand will be the first edition of Education Guide Switzerland, with information on over 250 universities, graduate institutes, international schools and Montessori schools — all educational institutions that offer academic programs in English within Switzerland.  Produced by Lisa with the expert guidance of Educational Consultant, Denise Nickerson, the new guide follows the tradition of Know-it-all passport, with all entries being listed free-of-charge.  Given that the entire book is dedicated to education establishments alone, it has been possible to allocate each establishment a whole page within the 272-page book.
