LHC win tickets

Lausanne HC vs Zurich Lions, Friday 21 October, 2016 at 19h45

Given how much our winners enjoyed Lausanne's match against HC Lugano last month, Lausanne Hockey Club is offering knowitall.ch readers the chance to win 4 more pairs of tickets for their next home match against ZSC Lions!

If you've never been to an ice hockey match before, this has to be one of the best ways to spend a great night out with friends, colleagues or family. Indeed, one of the winners of last month's double tickets, Melanie Dakin, told knowitall.ch, "I was lucky enough to recently win two tickets for an ice-hockey match at Malley, LHC v Lugano. What a treat! The atmosphere was dynamic, exciting and engaging. In fact it's difficult not to be caught up in the drama of it all. We had a great view of the ensuing spectacle, the goals, the die-hard fans encouraging their team from the Kop and the interaction of the crowd. We may not be familiar with all the game rules but the entertainment factor was high and we're looking forward to repeating the trip! Thank you to those people who made it happen!"

Whatever your reason for coming, make the Lausanne (ice) Hockey Club your new favourite team! Lausanne Hockey Club is the Vaud region’s premier sports and entertainment club.  When the team plays at home, the Malley Ice Rink, which sells out for most games, literally vibrates with excitement, ambiance and fast paced hockey action!

ABOUT LAUSANNE HOCKEY CLUB: THE BOYS IN RED!
Founded in 1922, the Lausanne Hockey club is one of the oldest clubs still active in the NLA. It has experienced a rich and varied history, moving up and down between the NLB (the B league) and the NLA over the past 40 years.  Since it was reinstated in the NLA in 2013 after winning the NLB championships, the Club has had one objective – to bring a championship title to Lausanne and the Vaud region.

The team consists of mostly Swiss players, some who grew up and played hockey in the region, plus a maximum of 4 foreign players that can dress for games.  These “Expat” players come from USA, Finland, Canada and Sweden. The most recent foreigner that has made Lausanne his favourite team is the new Canadian coach, Daniel Ratushny.

ABOUT ICE HOCKEY:
Hockey is one of the fastest, most skilled, and most physical team sports in the world, so it can be somewhat daunting to watch for the first time!  It’s 5 men against 5 men, chasing a small, hard puck, trying to score on the opposition’s goal, protected by an imposing goalie.  Unlike soccer, the players change ‘on the fly’ about every 30 seconds, and on average 3-4 goals are scored per game (unlike soccer, it’s rare to have a 0-0 finish!).

There are lots of confusing rules – and generally the fans never agree with the referee’s calls, and they let their dissatisfaction be known! But whether you know exactly what is going on or not, you can’t help but get caught up in the excitement of the game and the electric ambiance inside the Malley Ice Rink!

ABOUT SWISS ICE HOCKEY:
The Swiss NLA (the elite league in Switzerland) has 12 teams and the regular season includes 50 games (25 home, 25 away). Only the top 8 teams will go on to the playoffs which begin in late-February and finish in April.  Switzerland is considered a top hockey nation in the world, and the Swiss NLA one of the top European hockey leagues.
