For one day only, download the App for free on 1 August, Swiss National Day

Following on from the useful App we mentioned recently for travelers in and out of Geneva airport, we have just received news about another handy little App for anyone traveling through Switzerland.

Called "Switzerland Traveler", the App is ideal for anyone holidaying in the country, or local expats keen to get to know the country a little better, and provides a comprehensive and portable travel guide to covering the most popular and interesting sights, trips, activities, cities and experiences of Switzerland.

Launched on iTunes at the beginning of July, the App and has been produced by local travel writer, Sally O'Brien, in conjunction with an American developer of travel guide applications called Sutro Media (www.sutromedia.com).

Sally told knowitall.ch, "I'm a freelance writer and editor, focusing mostly on travel (I've written guidebooks for Lonely Planet for many years and I frequently write about travel in Switzerland for the media in Australia, New Zealand and the UK). I've lived in Switzerland since 2007 and make a point of actually visiting the places I write about! I live in the Canton of Vaud with my husband (who's Swiss) and our toddler son. We're expecting our second child in October."

Priced at just $2.99, the App includes over 260 entries, organized by practical criteria such as Eats & Drinks, Family, Historic, Snowsports, Neighborhoods & Villages, and Events & Festivals, which can be searched by name, area, distance, and price etc.  On 1 August only, in celebration of Swiss National Day, the App will be available to download free of charge.

The App also has offline maps to let you navigate no matter wherever you are and whatever you're online status, and features detailed, first-hand reviews and insider information. There are comprehensive details about entry fees, contact details, prices and opening hours, plus over 2100 photographs.

According to the developers, downloading Switzerland Traveler will give you access to free updates and upgrades of the product for life.

Sally welcomes any feedback on the App. If you have any ideas, suggestions, hints and opinions about what you would love to see and do in Switzerland, just let her know!
