The skates are being sharpened and the ice is already set: the Genève Futur Hockey Challenge, the annual youth hockey tournament welcoming in Geneva players and enthusiasts from all over the world, is preparing for its 6th year, with lots of new participants.

From April 7-10, 2016, Geneva will host 22 teams of players under age 15 from places as far as Canada and Russia to play in this dynamic tournament promoting youth hockey, sportsmanship and camaraderie. The Challenge will include players from levels U15 Elite, U15 A as well as U15 Girls.

For the 6th consecutive year, the Neva Foundation is the official partner of the event. Their renewed support of the Challenge has ensured its place on the calendars of all the current best youth teams and helped to make it a great, multicultural celebration. While promoting values close to the Foundation’s heart, the tournament provides an opportunity for more than 100 players from different backgrounds to connect beyond their cultural boundaries and borders.

This year’s competition will integrate an exciting new event: a community hockey tournament, held on Saturday April 9th. On this day, hockey teams with players from 13 communities in the Geneva canton, aged from 12 upwards, will have the chance to go head to head in friendly, 3-on-3 matches at the Les Vernets ice rink. The tournament will be a fun way to get to know neighbors while promoting the exciting sport of hockey.

Admission to the main Challenge tournament is free for everyone and will take place at three ice rinks, Les Vernets,  Sous-Moulin (Thônex) and Les Vergers (Meyrin). Any donations made during the event directly benefit Association Genève Futur Hockey, an organization that acts as a training ground for the next generation of professional hockey players.

The Genève Futur Hockey Challenge is an event that gives youth hockey players from different countries the opportunity to meet in an environment promoting tolerance and respect for others and the chance to share unforgettable moments surrounding the one passion they all have in common: hockey.
