A new event has been planned, which will delight chocolate connoisseurs of all ages! Called the Rallye de Chocolat, this gastronomic event will take place in the streets of Lausanne on Saturday, 23 April 2016.

Equipped with their own “chocolate passport”, chocolate lovers from the region are invited on a voyage of discovery that will lead them to sample innovative chocolate creations, produced by 12 of the best chocolatiers in Lausanne.  Free and accessible to all, this gourmet tour will enable young and old to sample chocolate in all its forms and “elect” the best chocolate creation in the rally –  in registering their vote, participants can also enter a draw leading to a range of prizes, including the coveted diploma of «ChoConnaisseur»!

After the success of the Geneva Chocolate Rally last October, this new event should prove a huge success with the inhabitants of Lausanne, who up until now may not always have appreciated the talent and diversity of chocolate makers who work in their city. Making their way from one chocolate shop to the next, participants will have the opportunity to discover or rediscover the chocolatiers on their doorstep.

To get locals in the festival spirit, there will be a Citroen DS3, dressed up in the colors of the Rallye du Chocolat, which will tour the streets of Lausanne in the 15 days preceding the event.

Unique chocolate creations!
Each of the 12 artisans who have taken up the chocolate challenge will use their know-how and creative genius to produce a gastronomic delight using cocoa beans from the region of Lake Maracaibo in Venezuela. Raw, caramelized, embedded, associated, or infused, this noble bean will be “treated” according to the unique inspiration of each chocolatier. The Chocolate Rally will include creations from Blondel, Christian Boillat, Laurent Buet, Durig, La Chocolatière, Les Ephémères, L’Espace Chocolat, Olivier Fuchs, Manuel, Nessi, Noz and Vincent.

Participants in the rally will be asked to choose from two main routes, which will include 6 chocolate stops each, all of them offering treats and surprises for chocolate lovers. At the end of each course, chocolate addicts will give their verdict on the chocolatiers, and select the one, who they believe has seduced them with their creation. Finally, a jury of experts will meet to decide the two winning chocolatiers.

For those who wish to extend the chocolate experience into the evening, Les Ephemères will transform the Mi Bar on the place Pépinet, into a “choco’s lounge bar”, with yet more chocolate creations to enjoy from 17h.

Rules of the Lausanne Chocolate Rally
The Lausanne Chocolate Rally is free and open to the public. Each participant must have a passport, which he can collect from 10h on the day of the event from one of the 12 participating chocolate shops or at the central meeting point for the "Rallye du Chocolat", located at the place Saint François, in the heart of Lausanne.

Each participant must choose to go to 6 chocolatiers on either Route A or Route B on his passport. At each stage, the player must collect the segment of a mystery phrase, which should be completed by the end of the rally, and have his passport stamped in order to sample the chocolate creation at each location.

At the end of the rally, each participant must then fill in a form indicating the name of their preferred chocolatier, answer a short quiz, write the completed mystery phrase, and enter his contact details before submitting his entry into the pink box located at his final destination. Only one entry per person is allowed.

A draw will be held on 25 April to select 3 winners, who will receive the “ChoConnaissuer” diploma as well as other prizes offered by DS Automobiles Lausanne-Crissier and other sponsors. First prize will be a voucher for 4 people to attend a chocolate workshop.
