Find out more at a special Open Day being held on 25 September, 2013

The International Cottage in Vevey is opening a second campus for its school in September 2014.

Located on the Quai de la Veveyse, alongside Lake Geneva, the new campus will enable the school to accept 145 children up to the age of 15 years old. In the future, the school plans to add the rest of the popular IB programme to their already existing Primary Years Programme, by including the Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme, and expanding their classes to grade 13. In addition, the curriculum will have a strong Green focus, based on the Green School of Bali model of sustainability.

Principal, Ms. Christine DeLuca, told us, “The outdoor space at The International Cottage will be a unique feature in Vevey. It will be an integral part of our teaching environment, bringing learning to life in an engaging way. The addition of a yurt to our outdoor area will provide students with an inspiring setting in which they can experience community and learn environmental studies.”

She added, “Our new campus has been purposefully designed and furnished to enhance our Green development. An organic canteen serving nutrious and fresh food will open on both campuses of the school."

Asked why parents should choose The International Cottage, Christine told us, “The International Cottage is child-centred with a unique vision and dynamic approach to international education. Our teacher-student ratio is the best you will find in Switzerland with just eight students to one teacher in the classroom."

The International Cottage was started by an expatriate family who felt that children needed a better schooling experience in the Vevey area.  The school admits children with all levels of ability in English, from native speakers to absolute beginners, and is committed to supporting students in gaining fluency in English so that they are able to meet the academic requirements of their grade level. The school’s French program has also been a real success with students, enabling them to master the language quickly through daily activities in French, and a strong focus on grammar in their lessons.
